Entering Your First Agility Trial with Jeff Boyer

Entering a competition for the first time can be a little confusing.  Join Jeff as he explains the ins and outs of signing up for your first venture into competition.

Topics to be covered include finding trials, understanding the information in the premium, rules for most common classes, filling out the entry form, verifying information in a confirmation letter, roles and responsibilities of volunteers at the trial, measuring dogs, and scoring. 

Novice-level courses will be set up to provide opportunities to understand and practice key points of the seminar, including bar setting, timing, scribing, and gating. 

Jeff Boyer began participating in agility in 2003 and currently judges agility trials sanctioned by five organizations.  

Requirements to participate:

•      Participants and dogs must have completed a Novice-level agility course (class). 
•     Dogs must be familiar with all agility obstacles and must be comfortable working in the vicinity of other dogs. 
•     Dogs must be able to remain in a crate or carrier during lecture and discussion portions of the seminar.
